Concussion is an everyday concern for athletes in the United States, with researchers estimating as many as 1.6 million to 3.8 million sports related concussions occur each year. Sustaining a second concussion while recovering from an initial concussion, known as Second Impact Syndrome (SIS), can be lethal.
While cognitive tests can be effective at diagnosing an initial concussion, they are subjective and do not provide the assurance that a physiologic test would in grading the severity of the injury or, more significantly, in monitoring recovery. The BrainPulse™ device is designed to aid in the diagnosis of concussion, as well as track the crucial course of recovery over time.
